From Whines to Wins

What's your favorite whine?
That ain’t a typo . . . I’m not asking about the kind that comes in a bottle. I’m asking about the kind we tell ourselves.
Some of my favorite money whines are:
“I don’t have tiiiiime!”
“It’s too haaaaard!”
“I’m no good at maaaaath!”
Those are excellent whines! They pair beautifully with financial stress, credit card debt and
living paycheck-to-paycheck.
Funny thing about whines. They usually hide the real problem.
At Budget YOU!, we start with WHY. Every whine has a WHY hiding behind it. Once you figure out the WHY, you can figure out WHAT needs to change. And that’s when HOW gets a whole lot easier.
Don’t have time to budget? Before reading further, check your phone’s screen time. <insert you own dramatic pause here - LOL!>
Surprised? Maybe not. Either way, you just found out how much time is being drained out of your life? Plug that drain!
Too hard? You learned to drive a car. You learn new tasks at your job all the time. Heck, you probably learned to operate your new smartphone without even reading a manual! Learning something new can seem hard at first. Then you practice. And it gets easier. Then you master it. You can learn this, too!
Does math kick your hiney? Relax. You don’t need a PhD in calculus. You don’t even need to know the Pythagorean Theorem. You just need to know how to type in numbers.
Use one of the budget tools online – your bank or credit union might have one – where you can just plop in the numbers. In the future, we’ll be covering Budget YOU!’s Money Map, which does all the math for you.
In the meantime, just get started.
With something.
Anything!
Whether you’ve tried budgeting before or not, this is the perfect time to use 30 minutes of your life to commit to your financial future. Take that first step.
There. We just emptied your whine collection. Now it’s time to start your win collection.
Stop letting money push you around. Be the boss of your bucks.
